What can be said about Pulp Fiction that hasn't already been said? It's one of the most iconic and original films of the last 30 years and spawned an entire genre. Is it Quentin Tarantino's best movie? Maybe, maybe not. I love them all, personally (to varying degrees, of course). But Pulp Fiction does hold a special place in my heart, being the first Tarantino film I saw in the theatre; it blew me away with its use of light and funny dialogue combined with intense violence, powerful performances, cool cameos, and brilliant use of arranging scenes out of chronological order to tell a better story, all set over a seriously badass soundtrack. It's not for everyone, but if you've read this far, I have to assume you're a fan.

This style of art - the kind that might take a second to recognize, and requires good knowledge of the reference material to understand - is the kind of artwork I love and buy myself. If you're here, I probably don't need to explain, but the scene I've painted presumes that Marsellus Wallace, chilling at home in his living room, watches the world premiere of the Fox Force Five pilot on TV and essentially falls in love watching Mia, then commits to meeting her in real life; the rest is history and leads to what we see in Fiction. I painted a depiction of the back of Marsellus's head quite purposefully to be nearly identical to the iconic image that introduces us to the character in the film. I studied scenes of the Wallace home and made sure to recreate items seen in the film, such as the sofa, the lamps, and the African sculpture. I created original titles and logos, including one for "QTN," the imaginary network the show might've aired on. Lastly, I took great care in depicting the analogue look of early '90s television on the projection screen - complete with standard-definition scan lines and RGB color separation - which can be seen in the detail images, and pops well in the physical fine art prints. The result is one of my favorite pieces to date, and I hope any of you Pulp Fiction fans out there enjoy it!
