When I first did "Double Over" (a pop surrealism piece in which Frankenstein's monster and the Creature from the Black Lagoon find themselves in the Showcase Showdown on The Price is Right), it was always intended to be a full collection of various absurdist situations featuring everyone's favorite classic monsters in the last places you would expect to find them. And it still is. It's just taken me a while to get to the second one. Now I'm happy to present "Ups & Downs," a family fun day of sorts at the amusement park, featuring an exhilarating roller coaster ride for Count Dracula, Bride of Frankenstein, and The Invisible Man, along with their pals, Frankenstein's monster and Creature from the Black Lagoon (plus, if you zoom in closely, you'll find a sneaky cameo by a spooky set of twins we all know and love). Do Frankie and Gill-Man look familiar? They should - I did a bit of recycling to fill in the seats of the roller coaster because I'm resourceful like that. Besides, this is a family affair, and I wanted everyone in on the fun! But I also did some meticulous art repair work to remove those pesky Price is Right name tags, and now I've created individual portraits of all five of these classic monster greats - in color and sepia variants! And for consistency and whatnot, you'll now find a sepia variant of "Double Over" for full cohesion in my Universal Monsters Collection! So, what's next, you ask? I don't know, man, this literal beast took me forever to paint, so let's just enjoy this one for now, eh?
